Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will soon be officially introduced as head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels. The 72-year-old specialist has agreed a 5-year contract with the university.
At the university, he will work in tandem with general manager Michael Lombardi, with whom he collaborated with the Patriots from 2016 to 2018.
Belichick is also expected to be joined by his son Steve, who spent last season as defensive coordinator at the University of Washington.
Belichick left New England at the end of the 2023 season after 24 years. Belichick won 6 Super Bowls as the head coach of the Patriots, as well as 2 more as the defensive coordinator of the New York Cants.
Belichick has previously stated that he wants to create a team at the college level that will professionally prepare football players for the NFL.
